With the much anticipated re-opening of Lizard Island fast approaching, the resort has revealed a ‘first look’ into one of its new suites, and it’s sure to please.

With the entire resort due to re-open in April 2015, and soft launch in March, the multi-million dollar investment into Lizard Island is set to reclaim its position as one of the world’s leading premium resorts.
Receiving praise for its unrivalled Great Barrier Reef location, natural beauty, exceptional service and diving experiences, Lizard Island is undergoing refurbishment following the impact of Cyclone Ita on the Island.

Delaware North’s Executive Director responsible for the resort, Greg Magi, said the refurbishment to Lizard Island will stay true to retaining all of the understated luxury that it is renowned for, with some stunning upgrades.

“We are committed to keeping Lizard Island’s understated Australian luxury and elegance intact throughout the refurbishment as our guests resonate with its simplicity. Our interior and style is designed as a natural extension of our beautiful location,” said Mr Magi.

“The first look showcases the Anchor Bay suite, styled to create a serene, residential ambience in a fresh and natural palette with highlights of coral, gold and blues. All rooms will provide elegant views of the Australian seascape, so we look forward to inviting guests to rediscover Lizard Island and create their own unique experience during their stay.”

Fringed with colourful coral reefs and 24 private powdery white sand beaches, Lizard Island is a picture-perfect island for discerning travelers.

All room and suites have been designed by architect OPV and fully refurbished with interiors by leading Australian interior design team Hecker Guthrie.

“The rooms and suites will be sublimely comfortable with a nod to the tropics. Natural tones and finishes together with subtle ambient lighting will create a serene, residential style experience. The hero will always be the stunning views – and it was our role to create interiors that integrated naturally into the surrounding environments,” said founding director Hamish Guthrie.

“This natural and atmospheric design theme is extended to the lounge area, where the bar and restaurant are located and also the spa.”

In addition to the new developments of the accommodation on the Island, new features will include a new restaurant, a new bar with a dedicated wine room for cellaring premium Wine Cellar wine list featuring a wide selection of the finest local wines to suit all wine connoisseurs and the extension of a wellbeing spa offering luxurious services.

A number of interactive activities will also introduced in the schedule which will give guests the opportunity to take advantage of all the spectacular opportunities the Great Barrier Reef location offers.
